Protect your computer from unauthorized file download
There are a lot more ways to protect your computer and network from incursion than just keeping your anti spam software current. While it might seem far fetched, by not restricting access to your computer network, anybody can park outside you house or business and, if they want a file download is as simple as hitting a couple of keys on the keyboard.
Wireless networks are particularly exposed to abuse. There are huge numbers of people who do not pay for internet access because they can always find open access. Putting a password on your wireless network will put an immediate stop to this, yet many do not perform this simple step.

People seem to think that having a password for the computer provides security for the information on it. But that is not the case. There are people who make a good living from hacking data and selling it, or, using it for blackmail.
